[Gabe doesn't have a whole lot to do today. He's been at the garage working most of the day, but he was able to wrap things up and get out of there for a little while. He's been told that it's good for him to do, get out from under the cars and get some fresh air now and again.
So he's doing that. He's sitting outside at a coffee shop, lets stretched out in front of him, coffee on the table (black, the only way he likes it) and cigarette in his hand. He's watching the world pass him by, but mostly watching the cars pass him by. He likes watching each car and thinking up an immediate fact about the make and model, or diagnosing a problem in his head just by the sounds the car is making.
This is his way of relaxing. It's not very normal, but it's his thing.
Chances are he's waiting for his sister to get out of class. Or he's waiting to meet you. Or he doesn't know you at all, and that's about to change. Either way, he's here.]

Abby did indeed just get out of class, as evidenced by the backpack she drops on the chair next to him, and she's a little worn and in desperate need of coffee, but there was Gabe and that's more important, so she will go order in a minute.]
Hi.
no subject
As she sits down he picks up a coffee he was hiding at his side and passes it over to her. He knew she would need it, and he only just got it so it hasn't had a chance to go cold.]
Hey, Abs.
[He turns in his chair to face her more.]
How was class?
no subject
Loud. [She laughs, which turns into a cough. It passes after a second, and she makes a face as she sets her hand back on the table, opening her eyes.] Mm. It was good, though. How's the garage?
no subject
It's good. Be better if it was mine, but who knows what time'll bring, right?
no subject
And then kicks him under the table, very lightly.
It's how she shows her love.]
It will be. Eventually. [Because she has complete faith in her brother. There's nothing he wants that he can't do.]
no subject
Okay, okay, it will be. You're always right.

She doesn't look at anyone, she gets paranoid that just looking people will make them sick. And the more she gets worked up, the sicker she feels. So she's not going to look at anyone and get home as quickly as possible. Which is why she's not looking where she's going when she knocks into someone and trips over Gabe's feet. With an awkward scraping noise, the chair near-by Gabe pulled over with her - books flying everywhere as she lands on the pavement.
Breathing labored, forehead clammy, she looks up with a her eyes wide, absolutely mortified.]
I'm sorry, so sorry. I. I just.
[She reaches for her books.]
I'm going, I'm going. I just. My books. I'll go.
no subject
Concern etches his features and he reaches for her books instead. He would help her up, but he doesn't know yet if she would want that or not. His head shakes.]
Don't worry about it. Are you okay?
no subject
[Trembling, she fights an urge to cough violently. Don't get everyone sick, Justine. Mustn't get everyone sick. She reaches for a tissue from her coat pocket and presses it to her lips. She has no idea what her body's cooking up this time.
Feels like the flu, tonsillitis and food poisoning all at once.]
Fine, fine. I'm fine, yes.
[She stops to watch as he goes to help retrieve her books. She's shocked. No one ever did that for ever. Not since leaving school. God, not even in school. She was always clumsy.]
Thank you. ... No one's done that before. No one helps.
no subject
Are you sure?
[She doesn't look well. The sickly catch his eye easily as it relates to his sister's Calling. Maybe it's his protective instinct over Abby, but he's always extra attentive to such things.
He also shrugs a bit. He doesn't always go out of his way to help people, but he doesn't know how to ignore someone falling over.]
Maybe you haven't met the right people.
no subject
[Justine sheepishly takes her books back and holds them tightly to her chest. Taking a deep breath she gets to her feet. Her eyes finding their place back on the pavement.]
Yeah, I'm sure. Just a little sickly. I'm used to it, always happens. It's okay. You won't get it.
[I'm trying my best not to infect anyone, she thinks.
She falls silent for a little while. She wants to laugh at that, she feels she should. But laughter and joy are things that do not come easy to her. She had her studies, they comforted her. But all she has is her books.
Instead, she manages a small smile.]
.. They.. always said I was with the right people at my school. Huh. That should be ironic or something, yeah?
no subject
No, I do get it. You can't help how you are.
[He studies her a bit, watching as she doesn't look at him, and he sighs. He doesn't know why he feels bad for her, but he does. He doesn't want to just cast her off.
He's glad when there's a small smile]
Everyone has their own perception of right.
[He clears his throat and sets up the chair she knocked over.]
You should sit for a bit. Maybe have something to drink. That spill wasn't very good for you.
no subject
Yes, that's true. Isn't it?
[She pauses, unsure. She wants to get home, lock the door and forget about being outside today. But he's being nice and it's a good feeling.
She misses having people to talk to. Her brother rarely writes these days and her Doctor's on holiday. She was given a number, but she doesn't want to bother her. After much thought and looking back towards the way she heading, she nods.]
Alright. I.. I have some water in my bag. I should.. take my pills.
[They'll certainly take the edge off... everything.]
no subject
[he says it with an easy shrug and sits down again.]
C'mon. Rest for a bit. Take your pills.
[he's not going to press it, but he would like her to sit for awhile.]
Do you want something else? Tea maybe? On me.

Hey there. [She plops down in the other chair with a contented smile and a coffee in her hands.] Didn't think I'd see you out from under the hood of a car.
no subject
He does offer her a bit of a dopey smile as she settles in though.]
I like to surprise everyone now and then.
no subject
She3 grins back, leaning back in her chair and taking a sip from her coffee. She looks content, happy to be outside and happy to be around family.]
Well, you did it to me. Out of anyone I thought I'd run into here, I definitely wasn't expecting you. Not much work in lately or are you taking a break?>
no subject
Who were you expecting?
[and a shrug]
I told Abby I'd meet her after class.
[and he does everything he tells Abby he will do. He never ever lets his sister down.]
no subject
[She wasn't planning to meet Abby here exactly but she knows that Abby does tend to come here after class and she thought she would drop in and say hi on her way to pick up supplies for some new work she's doing.
no subject
[He laughs and drinks from his cup, shifting in his seat some.]
She'll probably be along before too long if you want to wait.
no subject
[Considering for a moment, she shrugs.] Sure, okay. I'm not in a rush and I was just gonna see if she, well you guys really, wanted to come over for dinner. I'm making pizza.
no subject
[His brows go up in delight a bit. Food? Gabe likes food. Especially when he doesn't have to cook it.]
I'm totally there.
